Daughters are blessing and not Onus

10608091433_298ee909ac_bIts strange that we live in 21st century.  I believe we as people are not deserved to live in this modern times with the ancient mind. From last two days I have only searched about Female infanticide. Read different Census, Articles , Reports , Sting Operations and now I am simply  disgusted. Whenever we think or maybe if someone asks you about who do you think must be the tyro to the problem of female infanticide. What will your answer be? Ahh! I think must be villagers because they are not educated and in city people are educated enough to understand. That is where we go wrong! According to a Report People living in cities go for more abortion of female fetus than the one in villages or tribal areas. Just when I was reading more about this I happen to read a story of a female doctor in Delhi whose husband is  also an orthopedic surgeon and her inlaws were professors. When the lady was suspected to be pregnant , her inlaws took her to the hospital for normal sonography and ultrasound test. There they came to know the lady is the mother of female twins.  Her inlaws told her to either abort both or abort just one of the girls. She denied and then she was brutally beaten. She entered the depression state and thought to go for suicide. In her 7th month when she gave birth to twins who were really weak and her mother in law told the lady that because the girls are really weak and kept in nursery, they will die soon. Imagine the state of a mother when she listened to this! Her mother in law even tried to kill one of her daughters. She then moved to her parents house and I have no information about the verdict of court on this matter. Even now are you thinking about the tyro of female infanticide are villagers?

Just to clear your doubt in a better way :- In a video the reporter asked a street side vegetable vendor ( woman):-

Reporter:- Aap yahan hee rehte hain?

Vendor- Haan Hum yahin vastrapur ahmedabad mein rehte hain.

Reporter- Yeh bacha aapka hai?

Vendor- Haan

Reporter- Ladka hai ya Ladki?

Vendor- Ladki

Reporter- Aapko apni pehli baari mein kya chahiye tha?

Vendor- Mughe Ladki Chahiye thi lekin mere pati ko Ladka.

Reporter- Toh aapke Pati ka kya kehna tha?

Vendor- Nahi ab toh vo bahut khush hain.

Reporter- Aapko pata hai na log test karwate hain toh fir kya karte hain?

Vendor- Haan log toh girwa(abortion) dete hain par hum  aisa paap nahi karenge.

Reporter- Ab dusra bacha kya chahiye?

Vendor- Jo bhagwan De de

Reporter- Khushi se?

Vendor ( giving broad , cheerful and a very positive smile)- Khushi Se!

All my doubts were cleared.

And Now Proceeding forward I happen to watch a sting operation which just tore my soul apart and the sting operation had such a derogatory language used by doctors that I was disgusted to infinity and in that sting operation doctor asked the woman (one who was carrying out the sting operation )- Dekho 4-5 mahine mein kaafi bada pet hai dekhna abortion ke waqt bacha zinda niklega. And the other doctor says Hum yahan aise bache ko nahi rakh sakte aisa karna Shamshaan ghat wale ko paise dekar dafna dena ya Yamuna mein baha dena. A tear dropped from my left eye when I imagined about this.

In this era when we have got Indira Gandhi ( the former prime minister), Pratibha patil ( the former president) , PV sindhu , Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Kalpna Chawala , Smriti Irani ( the textile minister ) , Do you believe that we should even think of killing female foetus?

  1. Wonderfully presentation of your ideas! Keep posting more blogs like this, because it is high time for people to understand that in today’s world, where women are progressing in numerous fields, their abortion would make them culprits of unforgivable crimes. A woman is source of life, if we need to sustain our existance, then their abortion is posing a hinderance to our existence.

  2. Great thoughts Muskan. You have described the actual plight of the women and the female gender in our society.
I hope our generation can be the much needed change that our society needs. 😊
